Shepherd, Margaret

Sister Margaret Shepherd, nds, is Director of The Council of Christians and Jews, London, and editor of its journal, Common Ground. She formerly served as Education Officer of the Council for four years and Deputy Director for 6 years. She is a member of the Roman Catholic Congregation of Our Lady of Sion. She has a Master of Theology in Biblical Studies from King's College, London and a Diploma in Jewish Studies from the Leo Baeck College, received after three years' full time study of rabbinics. She also has a Teaching Diploma from Maria Assumpta College, London. Sr. Margaret serves on the Roman Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales Committee for Catholic-Jewish Relations, and is a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the Cambridge Centre for Christian-Jewish Relations, a consultant for University of Derby 'Religions in the UK' Handbook, and tutor to Christian students at the Leo Baeck College. Sr. Margaret has published articles and reviews in various periodicals and has contributed essays to the books Dialogue with a Difference‚ ed. by Tony Bayfield and Marcus Braybrooke (SCM, 1992), Splashes of God-light, ed. by Terence Copley et al. (Bible Society, 1997), and The Holocaust and the Christian World, ed. by Carol Rittner, Stephen D. Smith, and Irena Steinfeldt (Kuperard, 2000).
