Cardinal Bea Centre in Rome Initiates Newsletter

The Cardinal Bea Centre for Judaic Studies, a unit of the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, has initiated a newsletter concerning its programs in Jewish Studies and Jewish-Christian Relations. The inaugural issue, dated Spring 2007, contains a sketch of the life of the person after whom the Centre is named, Cardinal Augustine Bea, S.J. Cardinal Bea was the first president of the Vatican's Secretariat for Promoting Christian Unity and of its Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews. He was the main architect of Nostra Aetate, the foundational document on Catholic-Jewish relations issued by the Second Vatican Council.

The editor of the newsletter is Sister Lucy Thorson, nds. Joseph Sievers is the director of the Centre, the activities of which may be followed on its website, http://www.unigre.it/pug/judaicstudies/en. Click on "Newsletter" for the text in English or Italian.
