Rosen, David

Rabbi David Rosen was born in England and received his orthodox rabbinical ordination in Israel. From 1975 to 1979 he served the Jewish community in South Africa where he founded the Interfaith Forum of Christians, Jews and Muslims. As Chief Rabbi of Ireland (1979-1985) he founded the Irish Council of Christians and Jews. From 1988 to the beginning of 2001 he was director of the Anti-Defamation League of B'nai B'rith in Israel, where he specialized in interfaith relations. Since 1995 he has been President of the World Conference for Religion and Peace (WCRP) and from 1998 to 2002 was President of the International Council of Christians and Jews (ICCJ). In 2001 he was appointed International Director of Interreligious Affairs of the American Jewish Committee, and Director of its Heilbrunn Institute for International Interreligious Understanding. He is a past chairman of IJCIC, the International Jewish Committee for Interreligious Consultations. He is a member of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel’s Commission for Interreligious Dialogue; and serves on the Council of the Religious Institutions of the Holy Land. He is an International President of the Religions for Peace (RfP) and a member of the Board of Directors of the King Abdullah International Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID), established by the King of Saudi Arabia as well as the governments of Austria and Spain together with the Holy See. He is also Honorary President of the International Council of Christians and Jews (ICCJ); on the Executive of the World Council of Religious Leaders and the Elijah Interfaith Institute’s Board of World Religious Leaders.
