New Guide for Interreligious and Intercultural Organizations in Israel Published

The Interreligious Coordinating Council in Israel (ICCI) announces the publication of its latest annual Guide to Interreligious and Intercultural Activities in Israel (2001), which contains information on 71 organizations in Israel affiliated with the ICCI. All of these organizations promote peaceful relations between members of the major faith communities in Israel – Jews, Christians and Muslims.Founded on January 1991 (on the eve of the Gulf War), the ICCI is the national umbrella organization for institutions working for interreligious and intercultural relations in Israel. Its more than 70 affiliated organizations encompass Christian, Muslim and Jewish institutions, working together to promote Arab-Jewish coexistence and interreligious understanding.

Following the completion of a Strategic Program Planning process, ICCI has developed a new Strategic Focus.

According to Dr. Ron Kronish, Director of the ICCI, 'the ICCI works to build better relations among people in Israel of Jewish, Muslim, Christian, and Druze heritages by developing programs in cooperation with ICCI members that build a spirit of cooperation by drawing on shared values in the religions to work toward common goals and by enhancing the understanding and appreciation of the other's religion and cultural identity.'
