If Not Now When

June 24th, 2015. Launched today, CCJ’s new initiative If Not Now When aims to develop relationships between Jewish and Christian congregations through a month of spiritual reflection throughout August on one of the key issues facing the Christian community: the persecution of Christians in the Middle East in Iraq and Syria.

As far as we are aware, this is the first time that Jewish communities across the country will be engaging in a project of this nature and reflects initiatives of support for Jews within the Christian community on issues such as antisemitism.

In a statement of endorsement, Bishop Michael Ipgrave, CCJ Chair and Bishop of Woolwich said “This ground-breaking initiative takes seriously the Biblical imperatives of care both for the neighbour and the stranger, and is a timely and practical demonstration of our joint humanity”.

More information about the campaign can be found here and further statements of endorsement will be released in due course.
