Irwin Cotler is Professor of Law and Director of the Human Rights Program at McGill University and is a member of the Canadian Parliament. He is chair of the Canadian Parliamentarians for Global Action; co-chair of the Parliamentary Human Rights Group; member of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights; member of the House of the Commons Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade and member of its sub-committee on Human Rights and International Development; and Special Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the International Criminal Court. He has written extensively on matters of hate, racism, and human rights, as well as war crimes law, international criminal justice, counter terrorism law and policy and the relationship between state-sanctioned incitement and acts of terror. He is a member of the Board of Directors and the Professional Guiding Council of the Jewish People Policy Planning Institute, Jerusalem.
