The Auschwitz Jewish Center in Oswiecim/Auschwitz was opened in September 2000 and includes the town’s only surviving synagogue – Chevra Lomdei Mishnayot – fully restored to its pre-war appearance, as well as a short film, an exhibition on pre-war Jewish life in the town, a genealogy center and a library. With its educational programs, youth dialogue meetings and cultural events, the Center is the only active reminder of the rich Jewish life that once existed in Oswiecim.
