Antisemitic Incidents in Moscow

The Union of Councils for Jews in the Former Soviet Union protested the dissemination of anti-Semitic materials in Moscow, Russia. The group sent a letter to Mayor Yuri Luzhkov after antisemitic leaflets were distributed at the city's bus stops on Jan. 7, the Russian Orthodox Christmas. One of these leaflets featured a cartoon with a grotesque caricature of a Jew stabbing a blindfolded man, supposed to represent the Russian people. He was tied to a post that had a Star of David on it.
