Dr. Serge Ruzer was born in 1950. In 1972 he graduated from Moscow University. In 1987 he emigrated to Israel and in 1996 he defended a PhD. dissertation, "Biblical Quotations in the Old Syriac Gospels: Peshitta Influence and Hermeneutical Constraints." Since 1991 he is a Fellow of the Department of Comparative Religion at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Since the year 2000 he is an Assistant Director of the Center for Jewish Studies, Hebrew University and Moscow State University. He lives in Jerusalem.
