Dr William S Campbell studied theology at the Universities of Princeton, Tübingen and Edinburgh, from which he received his doctorate with a study of Roman 9-11. His primary area of research is Christian Origins, particularly Paul and His Jewish Context. He has published extensively in the area of Pauline literature and theology; see particularly Pauline Theology, 3 vols. (Fortress Press, 1991-95). He has also published in the area of Jewish-Christian dialogue, most recently 'Millennial Optimism for Jewish-Christian Dialogue', in Dan Cohn-Sherbok, ed., The Future of Jewish-Christian Dialogue (Edwin Mellen Press, 1999. Dr Campbell grew up in Northern Ireland where he was for a short period a minister of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. He previously taught at the Selly Oak Colleges, Birmingham. He is currently Reader in Biblical Studies at the University of Wales, Lampeter.
