First held in 1893 and every five years since 1993, the Parliament of the World's Religions is a gathering of people of faith and other interested people of goodwill. During the Parliament, attendees convene to learn about each other, to consider issues of global significance, and to promote interreligious understanding and cooperation.

First held in 1893 and every five years since 1993, the Parliament of the World's Religions is a gathering of people of faith and other interested people of goodwill. During the Parliament, attendees convene to learn about each other, to consider issues of global significance, and to promote interreligious understanding and cooperation.

 The 2009 Parliament will be held in Melbourne, Australia and will include over 8,000 participants from over 80 countries and representing dozens of religious and faith traditions.

Parliament of the World's Religions held in Melbourne, Australia December 3-9, 2009, info and interviews with people from different faiths regarding interfaith, interreligious dialogue. Includes Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd apology speech, concerns about environment, poverty, hunger, inner peace, wisdom and social cohesion - all themes to be addressed at the Melbourne 2009 Parliament of the World's Religions.
