Rabbi Dow Marmur is Senior Rabbi of Holy Blossom Temple in Toronto, Canada's largest Reform congregation. He was born in 1935 in Poland and spent the years of World War II in the Soviet Union before returning to Poland in 1946. He emigrated to Sweden two years later. In 1957, he left to study for the rabbinate at the Leo Baeck College in London, England. After graduating in 1962, he served two Reform congregations in England before joining Holy Blossom in 1983. He has written a number of books, among them: Beyond Survival: Reflections on the Future of Judaism (1982); Walking toward Elija: Sermons on the Jewish Festivals (1988); The Star of Return: Judaism after the Holocaust (1992); On Being a Jew (1994).
